Registration Process
You register a passage for a day of your choice, the code you receive following payment is valid from two days before until three days after the given date. Your route planning remains flexible. You can register a passage through two locks and the entire length of the canal or a so-called partial route with only one lock, where the trip ends or begins at the latest on the inland side of the other lock. Both options can be selected westbound or eastbound.
After having paid you will receive a code by e-mail, which must be shown or communicated at the locks. Please print this code on a piece of paper in DIN A 4 format to show it to the inspector at the top of the locks. We also offer an automated check: To take part in this, please enter the MMSI number for your AIS device - if available - when you register. If you have entered your MMSI number when registering in the WSV Webshop, an automated check will be performed and you will only be addressed by the inspector in exceptional cases, e.g. if the name of the vessel is not visible in the lock situation. However, you will still need to print or write the code as described above as a back-up solution.
When choosing the payment method "Advance payment" the payment run can take up to five days until the payment is credited to our account. The code will only be sent once we have received the payment. If you need your code faster, then please make sure to choose "SEPA" or "credit card payment". These payments are usually processed within a few minutes.
